Queens rule the roost after top-two vic­tory

QUEENS re­main top of the Mac­cles­field Darts 501 League with a four-point lead over Lord By­ron in sec­ond after a con­vinc­ing 6-1 vic­tory at Rail­way.

At 5-0 up, Queens Kirk Ten-Pi­er­ick weighed up against Gaz Hughes, who grabbed a 2-1 con­so­la­tion win­ner on dou­ble nine for the hosts, be­fore the vis­i­tors made it 6-1 in the dou­bles.

Lord By­ron kept them­selves in the ti­tle race with an em­phatic 7-0 win at Sport­ing B.

By­ron knew a high­scor­ing vic­tory would keep pres­sure on lead­ers Queens and 6-0 soon be­came a thrash­ing as Dan Rim­mer and Jay Glover faced Steve Clarke and Scott New­ton.

With­out a leg dropped, the game went the way of all the oth­ers as the By­ron com­pleted a 7-0 dom­i­na­tion to close in on ti­tle ri­vals Queens.

Spin­ners earned a hard-fought 4-3 home win over Nags A.

With the score tied at 3-3, it was all on the dou­bles as Ian Wadsworth and Matt Bar­ton took on Lee Banks and Martin Perry for the spoils, where the hosts came out vic­to­ri­ous with a clean sheet and 2-0 for 4-3 on the night.

Bro­ken Cross moved to within a point of Nags A, as they car­ried out a clean sweep of the spoils with a 7-0 win over Bruce B.

Flow­er­pot stormed to a 4-1 lead at Bruce A, which sealed vic­tory for the vis­i­tors, cap­tain Paul Clarke’s 2-0 win over the hosts’ skip­per Tommy Crow­ley con­firm­ing the vic­tory. But bat­tling Bruce had a taste of suc­cess in the last to make the fi­nal score 5-2.

Else­where, Sport­ing A de­feated Nags B 6-1, Paul Ad­cock, Chris France, Dan Burgess, James Bick­er­ton and Ade Dick­en­son win­ning their sin­gles matches, while Bri­tish Flag slipped to a 5-2 loss at Queens B.
