Queens rule the roost after top-two victory
QUEENS remain top of the Macclesfield Darts 501 League with a four-point lead over Lord Byron in second after a convincing 6-1 victory at Railway.
At 5-0 up, Queens Kirk Ten-Pierick weighed up against Gaz Hughes, who grabbed a 2-1 consolation winner on double nine for the hosts, before the visitors made it 6-1 in the doubles.
Lord Byron kept themselves in the title race with an emphatic 7-0 win at Sporting B.
Byron knew a highscoring victory would keep pressure on leaders Queens and 6-0 soon became a thrashing as Dan Rimmer and Jay Glover faced Steve Clarke and Scott Newton.
Without a leg dropped, the game went the way of all the others as the Byron completed a 7-0 domination to close in on title rivals Queens.
Spinners earned a hard-fought 4-3 home win over Nags A.
With the score tied at 3-3, it was all on the doubles as Ian Wadsworth and Matt Barton took on Lee Banks and Martin Perry for the spoils, where the hosts came out victorious with a clean sheet and 2-0 for 4-3 on the night.
Broken Cross moved to within a point of Nags A, as they carried out a clean sweep of the spoils with a 7-0 win over Bruce B.
Cruising into the doubles with a 6-0 lead, Martin McDonell and Bob Wilkins completed the rout which sees cross move four points behind Spinners
Flowerpot stormed to a 4-1 lead at Bruce A, which sealed victory for the visitors, captain Paul Clarke’s 2-0 win over the hosts’ skipper Tommy Crowley confirming the victory. But battling Bruce had a taste of success in the last to make the final score 5-2.
Elsewhere, Sporting A defeated Nags B 6-1, Paul Adcock, Chris France, Dan Burgess, James Bickerton and Ade Dickenson winning their singles matches, while British Flag slipped to a 5-2 loss at Queens B.
