Students go wild to learn about business
BUSINESS students visited Chester Zoo to learn more about how large organisations are run.
A total of 58 BTEC business pupils from Macclesfield College made the trip to help them gain a better understanding of concepts they’d been studying as part of their course.
The group spent time looking around the zoo before attending a marketing presentation.
They had the opportunity to see how the zoo operated as a charitable organisation and how it was financed, as well as how it promoted itself to potential customers.
Course teachers Charlotte Thompson, Carole Uske and Luke Ellis praised the students’ diligence during the visit, and especially their questioning of the zoo’s staff during the tour.
Charlotte said: “We were all very impressed at the pertinent business questions that the students asked about the operation of the organisation.
“Many questions were on topics which the students had been learning about and staff helped them understand how these concepts related to a real-life business setting.
“The students enjoyed the experience and are now looking forward to another business field trip to Paris in February.”
