Panto cast kept busy as the village’s youth show launches
THERE wasn’t much relaxing or taking it easy in Prestbury over the festive period as work stepped up a gear for the village’s imminent production of Peter Pan.
Prestbury Youth Pantomime’s cast of 46 youngsters rehearsed at Mads Little Theatre right through the holidays while stage hands built and painted scenery and costumes were stitched.
The production’s director Suzan Holder has written the script for the show which features all the traditional characters from the story by J.M Barrie plus the hilarious addition of Mrs Hook The Cook – Captain Hook’s mother, who scares him almost as much as the Crocodile.
There are lots of beautiful mermaids and fairies led by a mischievous Tinkerbell as well as Tiger Lily and her band of Native American Indians and a gang of pirates intent on causing trouble.
Suzan said: “A team of elves would have come in pretty handy over the last few weeks, as there’s always so much to do, but I think they were probably busy enough with Santa.
“Luckily we had lots of people willing to work very hard over Christmas to make sure everything is ready for opening night.”
“There’s something for everyone in our show, lots of great music and dancing and comedy routines to keep all the family entertained, so its well worth trying to come down and see the performance if you can. And yet again it is another brilliant year where the whole community have come together to work on something so special.”
Tickets are £8 and £10 and are still available by calling Prestbury Panto chair Lynn Ashall on 01625 820409.
Peter Pan runs from Weds Jan 4th until Saturday Jan 8th.
