Craw blimey, Lara’s done it again

Macclesfield Express - - MOTORS - CROSS-COUNTRY

THE Cheshire Cross Country Championships saw Fallibroome runner Lara Crawford get her year’s competition off to a flying start.

Lara (pictured right) completed a Cheshire Championship double in grand style.

Having last year won the Under-11 girls’ race, the first Saturday of this year saw her chalk up a repeat of that performance in the Under-13 year category, despite being one of the youngest runners, as she’s yet to celebrate her 12th birthday.

Her winning margin of 25 seconds around a very muddy and wet 2.6km course, set in the grounds of the Bolesworth Estate near Tattenhall, vindicated her trainer Richard Goddard’s belief that Lara would be a ‘tough cookie to beat’.

The year seven student at the Priory Lane school is going from strength to strength, having only a few weeks ago won the Inter County School Championships when she was a Cheshire representative.

Lara will now go on to represent Cheshire again in the Inter County Championships, which will be held in Birmingham in March.

And if that doesn’t keep her busy her swimming competitions will.

Lara will be swimming for Macclesfield Satellites Club in the Cheshire Swimming Championships in January and February.

Having come in the top three last year Lara will be hoping to repeat the success this year.
