●● THE Poynton Neighbourhood Plan is to be launched at a special event at the Civic Hall on Saturday January 17 from 10am to 2pm.

The plan represents a unique opportunity to help shape and influence the scale of development in Poynton for the next 20 years.

A survey, which will inform the plans, will be issued to all Poynton households in late January.

The final scheme will then need to garner the support of more than half of residents in a local referendum.

It will then have legal status and must be taken into account by planning officers.

If there are any Poynton-based voluntary or faith groups or other organisations who would welcome more information on the Neighbourhood Plan for Poynton go to the launch, or contact the Town Clerk to book a separate briefing session on 01625 872238). ●● MEANWHILE, Poynton Town Council is trialling a new format of its monthly surgeries.

From Saturday February 7 the first hour, from 10am to 11am, will be a drop in, with no appointment necessary. But from 11am to 12pm, three 20 minute bookable appointments will be offered.
