●● A YOUTH the­atre group is look­ing for peo­ple to take part in up­com­ing shows.

Bolling­ton Fes­ti­val Mu­sic The­atre is run by vol­un­teers for young­sters from seven to 13.

Its shows this New Year are a dou­ble bill of sto­ries of courage in the face of dan­ger. ‘Tu­raida Rose’ is about a baby dropped by a stork fly­ing over Latvia in 1600 which sur­vived and grew up in a cas­tle. ‘What’s your poi­son, Mr Hitler?’ is about a girl kid­napped by the Nazis and forced to taste Hitler’s food to prove it wasn’t poi­soned.

There is a taster ses­sion for the group on Sun­day, Jan­uary 18, from 2.30pm to 4.30pm, at Bolling­ton Arts Cen­tre.

Jez Lowe has built a rep­u­ta­tion as a song­writer and per­former in the world of acous­tic mu­sic.

He will per­form at the Dog and Par­tridge on Palmer­ston Street, 8.30pm. Ad­mis­sion costs £7 on the door. ●● THE NEXT Bolling­ton Cham­ber Con­cert is on Satur­day, Jan­uary 24.
