IN the East Cheshire Sun­day League Cup Poyn­ton FC had an em­phatic win over their hosts, Stock­port Vik­ings War­riors.

Josh Stafford scored a hat-trick for Poyn­ton, who also saw Alas­tair Grif­fin hit two.

Fur­ther goals from David Ken­drick, Wayne Lord and Eliot Lyon made it an 8-1 win for Poyn­ton.

In league ac­tion Nav­i­ga­tion also tasted vic­tory as they beat their hosts Tor­pedo Grove 3-1.

The win over Di­vi­sion Two’s bot­tom team puts Nav­i­ga­tion two points be­hind ta­ble-top­ping Dol­phin Inn.

In the Leek and Dis­trict League the front-run­ners Golden Lion took a break from league mat­ters and en­joyed a 5-1 win at Wind­mill Street, AFC El­mos the op­po­nents.

Rail­way View con­tinue to strug­gle in the league, how­ever. They were de­feated 3-0 at Vale Hop­pers and re­main sec­ond bot­tom in the league, ahead of Breaks FC on goal dif­fer­ence, though the base­ment side have a game in hand.
