Gents hear guest speaker as part of a packed pro­gramme of events

MEM­BERS from Bolling­ton Probus Club kicked off a year of events with a meet­ing to hear a talk about Dutch canals.

The club which has more than 70 mem­bers met at Civic Hall to hear the talk by Bolling­ton res­i­dent Tim Bod­dig­ton. It was part of a se­ries of events by the club.

The 2015 pro­gramme in­cludes talks on such top­ics in­clud­ing rail­ways, Rud­yard Lake, an­tiques, health mat­ters and The Sounds of the Six­ties.

Gra­ham Hib­bert, from the club, said: “There is some­thing to in­ter­est ev­ery­one.

“The club has groups for bowl­ing, walk­ing, golf and other in­ter­ests and in ad­di­tion to the Civic Hall meet­ings there is a monthly cof­fee morn­ing and quiz in the Com­mu­nity Cen­tre for ladies and gen­tle­men, where ev­ery­one is wel­come.

“The club is strictly non- po­lit­i­cal with mem­bers from ev­ery walk of life. If you are re­tired or about to re­tire just call in as a vis­i­tor, you will be made wel­come.”

Mem­bers meet on the sec­ond Tues­day of each month at 10.15 am in Civic Hall. The Bolling­ton Ladies Probus club meets in the Civic Hall on the third Tues­day morn­ing of each month. For in­for­ma­tion on the men’s club call 01625 575197 or ladies on 01625 574369.
