New website aims to promote local music
MUSICIANS in Poynton have come together to create a one-stop shop to help promote their gigs.
The website www. poyntonlive.uk and its TTwitter feed LiveinPoynton were born out of the successful festival Springboard Poynton in September.
Musicians and visitors identified a need for a single point of contact to find out what’s on in the town.
Working with music fans Les Renshaw and Mike Gallagher, parish councillors Geoff King, who was the brainchild of Springboard, launched the website.
Geoff said: “This new website covers all musical genres from classical to rock to folk, jazz and beyond; the only proviso being that the event must be staged in Poynton. Poynton Live, which also enables local musicians to place their profile on the site, is already building an enthusiastic following and will surely become the ‘must go to’ resource for Poynton. The service is free to local musicians and promoters.”
