Lion Break their hosts’ hearts

GOLDEN Lion were the guests from hell as they vis­ited Breaks FC and chalked up an 8-0 win.

While the Lion made easy progress in the Sub­sidiary Cup their Leek League ri­vals Rail­way View weren’t in ac­tion.

Their Leek Shield match at Dy­ers Arms fell vic­tim to the weather.

In the Macclesfield Sun­day Cup Lord By­ron were also hum­bled at home, Poyn­ton Work­men’s Club run­ning out 5-1 win­ners.

Poyn­ton Le­gion lost in the East Cheshire League Di­vi­sion Two Cup, Marple VIlla beat­ing them 2-1 at Tork­ing­ton Park.

Le­gion were two down be­fore Jack Mar­shall scored in the 88th minute to set up an ex­cit­ing fin­ish. But it proved mere con­so­la­tion for Le­gion.

David Lewis Cen­tre were in League Di­vi­sion Three ac­tion but they suf­fered a 5-2 loss at Lady­brook.

There were league fix­tures in Di­vi­sion Four, in­volv­ing Tyther­ing­ton Ju­niors and Bro­ken Cross Ath­letic.

Tythy won 3-1 at Bur­nage Metro sec­onds, cour­tesy of goals from Ryan Walker (2) and Ben Twen­ty­man.

But the day’s big win­ners were Bro­ken Cross. They thumped In­ter Chea­dle’s sec­ond team 8-0.
