Help needed for free service

Macclesfield Express - - BEFORE THE BENCH -

CAN you spare a few hours to man the Cheshire Libraries book-mobile?

The Royal Voluntary Service and Cheshire Libraries are asking for regular volunteers for their Home Library Service in Macclesfield.

The service delivers books, large print books and audio books to housebound older people free of charge.

Royal Voluntary Service Manager Gill Taylor said: “This is a fantastic service that makes a real difference to the lives of older people in Macclesfield and around Cheshire.

“A regular visit from one of our volunteers provides much-needed companionship and a vital link to the local community for those who are unable to get out as much as they’d like to.

“From our work with older people we know that services such as this have a great effect on the quality of life for both our clients and volunteers. We have witnessed amazing friendships develop.”

The team are also happy to hear from new older people who would like to access the scheme.
