I-Macc party raises £1,000s

HUN­DREDS of peo­ple flocked to Macclesfield Youth Club’s an­nual fundrais­ing ex­trav­a­ganza.

More than 250 peo­ple packed out i-Macc Youth Club’s ‘ Made in Macc’ event at Ron­nies on Mill Street, Macclesfield.

And af­ter a raf­fle of star goods and per­for­mances by lo­cal bands, £2,500 was raised for the club to en­sure it sur­vives for an­other year.

i-Macc chair­man and founder Antony Allen said: “We had loads of raf­fle prizes on the night which were do­nated by Maw­sons Hair­dress­ing, Laser Quest, Pizza Ex­press and rock pho­tog­ra­pher An­thony Mul­ryan.

“We also had a signed gui­tar on of­fer from lo­cal band The Vir­gin­marys, as well as a drum signed by the whole of iconic group New Or­der.

“Bet­ter still Stephen Mor­ris from the band even took the time to bring it around to my house.

“De­spite his fame he was such a lovely fella and has never forgotten that he is a Macclesfield lad and that he is proud of this town.

“All in all the last few weeks has been crazy but most im­por­tantly, the raf­fle and ticket sales en­sured an­other £2,500 was raised, keep­ing i-Macc open for at least an­other year.”
