Students perform The Little Mermaid
KING’S Junior Division pupils visited the magical world of Hans Christian Anderson in this year’s musical The Little Mermaid.
Youngsters from the school all got dressed up in colourful costumes to help perform the classic story, which was also made into a hit Disney film.
Maddy Holder starred in the production as evil queen Ursula, Ben Piper was the friendly seagull Scuttle, Sophie Scott was the mermaid Ariel and Archie Abraham was lobster Sebastian.
The play’s musical director Alison Lea said: “Little Mermaid is the story of Ariel, an adventurous mermaid who is fascinated by humans.
“The children appeared in a variety of guises: seagulls, courtiers, sailors and underwater creatures, and even created the effect of a storm and a whirlpool with large scale choreography.
“Both the Fence Avenue hall stage and floor were used to give separate performance areas for dry land and underwater, which was very effective.”
