Macclesfield Express - - SCHOOLS NEWS -

MACCLESFIELD Talking Newspaper for the Blind has issued a fresh appeal for a new editor.

The Talking Newspaper records an audio version of the Macclesfield Express each week, which is sent free-of-charge to blind and visually impaired people.

In February, current editor Lynn Hilton announced she was stepping down after 14 years of service.

However, two months on, no suitable replacement has been found.

Lynn said: “The ideal candidate will be keenly interested in current affairs, have excellent literacy skills and possess good local knowledge.

“It would be perfect for a recently retired person keen to contribute something worthwhile to the local community.”

Every Thursday an editorial team of 10 meet at the Talking Newspaper studio on Queen Victoria Street. The editor leads a group of 50 volunteers who record and distribute the audio Express.

If you are interested, contact Colin Turner at macctn@vision15.co.uk or phone 01625 435283.
