Parents get skills boost thanks to three charities working together
YOUNG parents are being given a skills boost thanks to a town centre charity.
Just Drop-In on Duke Street has joined forces with Mulberry House and Home Start Cheshire East to help parents gain invaluable life skills with a City and Guilds course.
It was able to provide transport, a crèche and refreshments so parents could do the course.
Ann Wright, from Just Drop-In, said: “This prototype project has been so successful, Just Drop-In is looking for ways to access funding so that the charities can continue working together.”
Couple Billy Blaikie and Zoe Wood are two of 15 parents to complete the course, funded by a grant from Big Lottery Awards For All.
Billy said: “We found out about the course from Just Drop-In, and have loved being involved. The training has been really interesting and useful and it has increased my confidence in finding work. It’s been hard work at times with having a new baby but it was worth it.”
