Excitement as festival line-up is announced
THE beer is brewing, the order for sunny weather is in, and now the line-up for the Macclesfield Beer Festival has been announced.
And better still, a free bus will shuttle guests to and from the event.
The 21st Macclesfield Beer Festival, which is held each year at Macclesfield Rugby Club, takes place over the weekend of May 8 and 9.
Not only is there a bevy of spectacular beer on offer, but the music is also set to make for a fantastic event – with Charli White, Helen Walford and Joe Barker joining with Monkey Harris & Big Jam on the bill.
Each of the acts performing on Saturday afternoon are regulars on the Macclesfield music scene. Charli and Joe are both from the area, while Helen is originally from Nashville, Tennessee, but is now Macclesfield based.
They will be performing at the Saturday daytime session, which will include a tombola and raffle, bar skittles and balloon sculptures.
Visitors can also enjoy wood fired pizzas, a hog roast, sandwiches and pies.
The Saturday daytime session, which is free to attend, is open from midday to 3.30pm.
Ben Whiteley, chairman of Macclesfield Round Table which has organised the event, said: “We’re delighted to have some of the local area’s favourite regular performers attending this year’s Saturday daytime session.
“It’s set to be a great session with good music, food and a huge variety of beers to enjoy.”
As always a free bus service will run between 6.45pm and 12.30pm each evening to take guests to and from the event from Waters Green Tavern in Macclesfield town centre.
The evening sessions take place from 7pm. Tickets for each session cost £10 and include a commemorative 21st anniversary glass.
They are selling quickly, so organisers are urging visitors to get their tickets sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment. Buy them from the website at macclesfieldbeerfestival.org.
Proceeds from this year’s Macclesfield Beer Festival will go to East Cheshire Hospice – the first charity to benefit from its sponsorship when the festival began 21 years ago.
The main sponsors are SAS Daniels and Bennett Brooks Chartered Accountants, but any individuals who would like to support the event are encouraged to contact michael@ prjonesjewellers.co.uk.
