●● MANY of our readers expressed their concerns over the safety of the underpass after we reported that a man had been attacked (page two and website Wednesday, April 22)
Beckie Nadine: Needs CCTV and lighting.
Martin Morrey: How long until they realise that they need lighting at the minimum! I used to walk under there after I’d finished a late shift and have had my glasses torn off my face.
Stuart Bailey: I got a brick to the back of the head there on New Year’s eve in 2001.
Got taken to hospital with concussion and the police were informed.
They told me that it was the council’s responsibility to put in CCTV. No one should ever be afraid to walk home.
Simon Mirror-Figures Mayo: There have been problems down there for years. Yet it’s still happening....
Kimbo Rose: I walk through the underpass a lot as it’s close to where I live and convenient.
I feel uneasy walking through there when it’s dark/getting dark. Surely it’s dangerous if you can’t see your feet?! Something needs to be done.
Aimee Lu Lines: At least they’ve cleared it up now, just needs some good lighting and cameras, maybe police there on Friday/Saturday night.
Trish Lewis: Always been dodgy under there!
Arthur Wilson: Such a dodgy walkway.
Daniel Pyatt: This place needs lighting especially along the path towards Tesco.
Kellie Blakemore: Disgusting and I hope they find the horrid scum that did this!
Maria Rush: This town used to be a great place to live, Macc you need to get it back!! X
Heather Kym Tyrie: My hubby got attacked there a few years ago!
The place needs monitoring it’s terrible.
Claire Finnis: I sometimes run under there.
Samantha Louise Boucher: It feels a lot

safer now all the bushes have been cut back, no more running at every sound that came from
