POYNTON Football Club is a team on the up! Last season’s Mid-Cheshire League 1 Champions and Stockport Cup finalists will contest the 2015 Stockport Cup Final once again next Friday evening at Cheadle Town’s Park Road Stadium.

Poynton, who are currently fifth, will play local rivals Lynotype Cheadle who are second in the Mid-Cheshire Premier Division.

The teams met in March in the league and fought out a 3-3 thriller, so the final has the potential to be an enthralling clash.

This will be Poynton’s only chance of silverware this season. The team has settled into the Premier Division superbly and are looking for a top-five finish with three league games to go. The league title being out of reach now leaves the Stockport Cup Final as a great opportunity to build on last season’s success, and continues the revival of the club under the management team of Cowell and Marchbank.

The reserve team has also had an excellent season and they too are looking for a top-five finish, while Poynton Under 21s continue to develop and generate future first team footballers.

All club information can be found on the Poynton Football Club Website www.poyntonfc. co.uk and the Hallmark Security Cheshire Football League www.cheshirefl. com.
