Lostock test for boxers
MACCLESFIELD Boy’s Boxing Club had another busy night after three of their boxers competed at the Lostock Working Man’s Club in Northwich.
The main event saw Tom Marlowe in action for MBBC, taking the fight at 5:30pm that day.
He went up against Dominic Wilson from South Chesire ABC, and as the bell rang Wilson went straight to work coming under Marlowe’s straight shots and working the body and head.
Round two saw Marlowe get his measure of Wilson as he showed some brilliant boxing ability, stepping in throwing shots as Wilson trundled forward not quite reaching his target.
Round three saw both lads tire but it was clear that Marlowe was the better boxer, and that earned him a split decision win just hours after taking the fight.
Josh Anderton was also in action in another skills bout against a much taller opponent, Kyran Jani from South Cheshire ABC.
It was straight shots only in the first and Anderton’s defence was impeccable as he took the lead hand shots from Jani, not one scoring a clean shot.
It was more of the same in round two, and three, with Anderton turning it up towards the end of the fight and looked really comfortable throughout the fight.
Dennis Acreman was also competing in a skills bout against Astley VIPs, with both lads finding success in rounds one and two.
Acreman had lots of success in the final round though, working right up to the final bell in an excellent contest.
