Boys sign off with league and cup dou­ble

MACCLESFIELD Boys U18s com­pleted a league and cup dou­ble on Sun­day by win­ning the Dis­trict Cup.

Hav­ing won the league Di­vi­sion One ti­tle the pre­vi­ous week, the boys beat Macclesfield Boys U17s in the cup fi­nal at Rud­heath So­cial FC ground in a very com­pet­i­tive game.

Both teams gave it their all, with the U18s even­tu­ally run­ning out 3-1 win­ners with two goals from Adam Philips and one cap­tain Jon Lloyd.

This brought to an end twelve years of ju­nior and youth foot­ball for the team with seven mem­bers of the squad hav­ing played ev­ery sea­son.

A spokesman said: “The team would like to thank every­body who has sup­ported or played for them over years, we would also like to thank Macclesfield ju­niors for pro­vid­ing the frame­work that let them have the chance to play foot­ball in a friendly, but com­pet­i­tive en­vi­ron­ment. Good luck to all the team.”
