Joe, 90, challenges care staff

Macclesfield Express - - MOTORING -

A 90-YEAR-OLD care home resident is inspiring his neighbours and staff to get fit.

Joe Smith lives at Belong Macclesfield on Kennedy Avenue and has been working with Barbara Tait, fitness instructor.

Joe has backing a challenge for staff to join him in the gym and try to keep up.

Caroline Ray, general manager at Belong Macclesfield, took up Joe’s challenge.

Barbara Tait said: “The best way for staff here to fully appreciate the effort that we’re expecting of residents in the exercise studio is to experience it for themselves.

“Staff that feel the benefits of regular exercise are better empowered to encourage residents to do the same.

“Part of the Belong exercise service is to educate residents, their families and the staff that work with them about the benefits of exercise.”
