Shake-up as seats change hands
THERE is a new-look Bollington Town Council after the local elections.
The councillors for the East ward were decided before the election because there were not enough candidates to prompt a vote.
Bollington First councillors Amanda Stott and partner James Nicholas took the seats, with Independent Allan Williams and Conservative John Whitehurst.
But voters went to the polls in the Central and West wards.
In the Central ward, councillors Helen Kennedy and Jo Weselby stood down.
Andrew Langdon and Tom Mayers won the seats for Bollington First, with 838 and 747 votes respectively.
Conservative Jon Weston kept his seat with 623 votes and fellow Tory and wife Helen took the other seat with 589.
This meant that Labour’s David Laffan lost his seat and newcomer Independent Jane Houghton missed out.
In West ward, Shirley Sockett lost her seat, with new Tory candidate Christopher Bennett taking it with 576 votes.
Keeping their seats were Labour’s Ken Edwards, with 486 votes, Independent Graham Hibbert with 518 votes and Independent Angela Williams with 655 votes.
