●● THERE was a mixed bag of comments when we announced David Rutley would continue his role as Macclesfield MP. Debbie Macleod: Where is the dislike button when you need one? Adele Townend: There’s a shock. Trent Steele: Well done to David and the team. Barbara Adams: Congratulation David Rutley but no surprise. Scott Walker: Five more years of town redevelopment plans and wasted money for it not going ahead. Just like our wasted money on the waste site the council failed to get planning permission for. Simon J Thomson: I wonder what will be achieved over the next five years; privatised NHS, TTIP (hurray US corporations suing us for negatively affecting their profits), more social care cuts, zero action on climate change, zero hours contracts, family centres closed, care for disabled cut, cuts to education... never mind it will be OK cause we are all in it together. Jackie Susan Gibbs: While the rich look down their noses at our miserable existence we’ll be scraping a living. Jenny Capper: After 97 years of being a Tory town I’d like to say I’m shocked but I’m not!! Wealthy town for a lot – but why should we pay more for petrol than other towns????? Sheila Kirk: Congratulations David. Every best wish for the next 5 years. Look forward to working with you. James Cawley: That’s no big surprise. Dawn Fearnley Jarvis: Awesome. Paul Smith: Let’s all be honest, the biggest issue here is how councils are run. Wasting tax payers money on poor management and big wages for executives who in industry wouldn’t last five minutes. This is where the real drain on our economy comes from. Introduce independent auditing of councils and disclosure of spending and wages and let’s really see where our money is going.
