Town landscape inspired artwork

Macclesfield Express - - MACCLESFIELD PEOPLE -

AN ARTIST will show watercolours inspired by the geology and landscape in and around Bollington.

Barbara Nicholls based herself in the town to create her latest series of paintings. She said she was inspired by Tegg’s Nose, the Saddle of Kerridge and the Peak District’s geology and landscape. Barbara, who lives in London, is presenting her work at an exhibition at Clarence Mill. It will also be shown in Germany this summer – in Museum Kurhaus Kleve.

She said the way the paint settles in her work reflects the Bollington landscape.

Barbara said: “After visiting Bollington and the surrounding hills in 2013, I realised it would provide a rich source of material for new work. Establishing my studio in Clarence Mill in 2014 helped me to immerse myself in the landscape and the community of Bollington.”

She will exhibit at Clarence Mill on Sunday, May 17, 2pm to 6pm.
