Prest­bury Choral So­ci­ety hit all the right notes with con­cert

PREST­BURY Choral So­ci­ety are cel­e­brat­ing a suc­cess­ful Easter con­cert, Bach’s St John Pas­sion, at St Bartholomew’s Church in Wilm­slow.

Led by mu­si­cal direc­tor Simon Mercer, the choir’s per­for­mance in­cor­po­rated six soloists.

Cyn­thia Crewe, choir mem­ber, praised the ‘al­most op­er­atic in­ter­play be­tween the six ex­cel­lent soloists’. She said: “The rous­ing ap­plause from the packed house at the end of the evening said it all.”

The choir is now pre­par­ing for its end of sea­son sum­mer con­cert, ‘a lighter af­fair’.

The au­di­ence will be treated to a pro­gramme of four-part songs by Schu­bert, English Art songs, madri­gals, tra­di­tional songs, and sa­cred mu­sic, in­ter­spersed with flute and pi­ano.

The con­cert takes place on Satur­day June 6 at 4pm at Prest­bury Vil­lage Hall, Macclesfield Road.
