Remand on robbery charge
A MAN has been remanded in custody following a cash in transit robbery – but police are now hunting for three others.
Michael Clarke, 23, of Poynton, appeared before Stockport Magistrates on Thursday charged with robbery.
Mr Clarke, of Shrigley Road North, was denied bail and remanded to appear at Minshull Street Crown Court on June 4.
He appeared in connection with a robbery at the Co-op, on Cheadle Road, Cheadle Hulme, two days earlier.
Police investigating the incident are looking for three other men.
Officers were called to reports a cash box had been stolen from two security guards at the supermarket at 2.15pm.
The two guards, who work for cash deliverers Cardtronics UK, were both injured in the attack.
Police have appealed for witnesses to the incident and the aftermath as the three men got away.
The Co-op confirmed that none of its staff or customers at the store, which reopened the following day, were injured in the incident.
