●● THE town crowned its new mayor in a spe­cial cer­e­mony.

An­gela Wil­liams took over the role from Amanda Stott in a mayor mak­ing cer­e­mony at Bolling­ton Civic Hall.

She has been a Bolling­ton town coun­cil­lor since 2006 for the West ward and was pre­vi­ously mayor in 2010/11. ●● FILM The The­ory of Ev­ery­thing will be shown at Pott Shrigley Com­mu­nity Cinema.

The show­ings - named Flix in the Stix - take place at Pott Shrigley Vil­lage Hall.

The event is on Wed­nes­day, June 3, at 7.30pm. The bar opens at 6.30pm.

Tick­ets cost £3 in ad­vance or there is a chance to buy on the door for £4.

The events are a chance to gather for a drink at the Vale Inn and hear talks on science sub­jects as well as take part in dis­cus­sion.

The next event will fea­ture dis­cus­sion on what a galaxy is with Megan Argo, an as­tro­physi­cist based at Jo­drell Bank.

The talk starts at 6.30pm and is free.

It’s a friendly group for begin­ners and ex­pe­ri­enced knit­ters which meets on the sec­ond Wed­nes­day of the month, from 8pm.

Les Barker will per­form a night of po­etry read­ing at the Dog and Partridge on Palmer­ston Street on Fri­day, June 19, 8.30pm.
