Prest­bury take the pos­i­tives from de­feat

ASH­TON won the toss and bat­ted first against Prest­bury, coast­ing to 107-1. How­ever, they were stopped in their tracks by Ju­lian Mc­Gov­ern with 6-67 and folded to 153 all out.

Prest­bury had a poor start to their innings and at 83-8 looked to be well short. In the end they fell 16 short but it was a great ef­fort by Conor Hi­bel (29) and Aquell Ahmed (30no), a real team ef­fort and so many pos­i­tives for the com­ing weeks.

The sec­onds had a good win with five wickets for Cameron Kirk­land.

The week pre­vi­ous, in their Cheshire Cup game against Bred­bury St Marks, Prest­bury bat­ted first and, led by a sparkling 75 from Tom Livesley, with sup­port from Aquell Ahmed (46no), they reached 202 off 45 overs. How­ever, Bred­bury reached the tar­get in the 44th over to progress to the next round.

In that week­end’s league game against Heaton Mersey, Tom Livesley again led the way with 63, well sup­ported by Dom Asquith (38).

How­ever, it was a be­low par to­tal of 141 all out and Heaton Mersey reached the tar­get in 35 overs.
