Prestbury take the positives from defeat
PRESTBURY CC BILL LIVESLEY
ASHTON won the toss and batted first against Prestbury, coasting to 107-1. However, they were stopped in their tracks by Julian McGovern with 6-67 and folded to 153 all out.
Prestbury had a poor start to their innings and at 83-8 looked to be well short. In the end they fell 16 short but it was a great effort by Conor Hibel (29) and Aquell Ahmed (30no), a real team effort and so many positives for the coming weeks.
The seconds had a good win with five wickets for Cameron Kirkland.
The week previous, in their Cheshire Cup game against Bredbury St Marks, Prestbury batted first and, led by a sparkling 75 from Tom Livesley, with support from Aquell Ahmed (46no), they reached 202 off 45 overs. However, Bredbury reached the target in the 44th over to progress to the next round.
In that weekend’s league game against Heaton Mersey, Tom Livesley again led the way with 63, well supported by Dom Asquith (38).
However, it was a below par total of 141 all out and Heaton Mersey reached the target in 35 overs.
