Robert Hart’s dad breaks his silence
THE heartbroken dad of Robert Hart has told how his world has been ‘destroyed’ a year after his son’s murder.
Allan Hart, 70, said he has been too distraught to talk to anyone and shut himself away since Robert, 26, who grew up in Rainow, died after an unprovoked attack at Parklife festival in Manchester last June.
Police have been desperately searching for clues but the killer is still at large.
Now, on the anniversary of his son’s death, dad Allan, who moved from Rainow to Eastbourne three years ago, has broken his silence and has told the Express of his pain over losing Robert.
He said: “The loss of my son is devastating. Day by day I can’t come to terms with it.
“He was a precious jewel in my life and a wonderful person. My life is over and whoever did this should make himself accountable. That person has destroyed my world and Robert’s family and friends.
“It hurts every second of every day. I was a buoyant person but now I can’t talk to anyone, I don’t go out.
“My world is destroyed. I’m totally numb and don’t know where I am or what I’m doing. I look for Robert on every street corner but he’s never there. I wish I could see my son again.”
Allan, dad to two daugh- ters and another son, is a former housing officer in Macclesfield. He coached the football team at Robert’s primary school in Rainow and was a member of Macclesfield Round Table. He remained close to Robert, who lived in Liverpool after graduating from university there. Since moving away Allan had arranged to meet his son the day after Parklife Festival at a hotel in Leek for lunch.
Allan said: “I spoke to him two days before and the last thing he said was ‘See you on Sunday Pop’. I was in Leek when I was told Robert was seriously ill and it was the end of my earth. If there are people who know what happened to Robert I beg them to come forward. Robert deserves justice.”
Robert was punched at Parklife in front of the main stage with girlfriend Gemma Parry at around 9.15pm on June 7. Greater Manchester Police have renewed their appeal for information.
