Biggins backs fundraising challenge for the over 55s
KING of the Jungle and national treasure Christopher Biggins came to town to encourage residents over the age of 55 to take part in a special fundraising challenge designed to test both your mettle and mind.
The Silverthon Triple Challenge has been set the Rotary Clubs of Poynton, Woodford and Bramhall, with proceeds going to Age UK Cheshire East.
The challenge is for teams of four to attempt a 15 mile bike ride and a five mile walk before attempting a series of indoor cerebral challenges.
Mr Biggins joined Rotary members and representatives from Age UK Cheshire East, at the starting point of the cycle – the Boars Head in Poynton – to promote the event.
Community fundraiser, Kathryn Harrison said: “The Silverthon is a very exciting event to be involved in, as it is the world’s first triple challenge event for the over 55s, and to have Biggins on board is the icing on the cake.
“The event is intended to be great fun, with a more serious message that age doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy physical exercise or take part in a challenge.”
To apply go to www. bwrotary.org. Places are limited to 30 teams.
