Visitors congregate at new park in the 1950s
OUR nostalgia column brings you fascinating pictures taken in Macclesfield in days gone by.
We have teamed up with Macclesfield Library and the Cheshire Image Bank to share more old photographs from the archives and once again will be featuring a collection of images each week.
Our main picture shows visitors to a sunny Sparrow Park after its completion in the 1950s.
The smaller picture is a view of shops on Waters Green showing Step Hill before the gardens and St Michael’s Parish Church at the top of Step Hill, in the 1950s.
All photographs and many more come from the Cheshire Image Bank, www.cheshireimagebank.org.uk.
