Friends take on family funday and challenging yomp for soldiers charity
A DEDICATED troupe of fundraisers held an event to raise cash for charity.
The family funday was held at the Mulberry Bush pub on Carisbrooke Avenue in Macclesfield, and was organised by Kerri Woods and her pals Sue Limb, Yvonne Mayers and Sarah Gratton, in aid of the ABF Soldiers Charity.
Mum of three Kerri, 36, said: “We raised £2,133.04 which is absolutely fantastic. We had lots of prizes donated from shops and businesses in Macclesfield so we’d like to say thank you to everyone who donated. It was brilliant. We’d also like to express our gratitude to Brian Smith at the Mulberry Bush.”
Kerri and her friends are hoping to add to the fundraising pot with their next challenge - to walk 54 miles through Scotland in 24 hours for the Cateran Yomp.
Kerri, 36, who is married to Matthew, said: “My husband is ex army and he did the walk last year with a couple of friends. Afterwards he said ‘you would never be able to do it’ so us girls decided we’d give it a go and try to prove them wrong! I’m the girl that walks to the car, so it’s going to be difficult, but we’re getting as much training in as possible.”
To sponsor the team go to soldierscharity.org/ yomp and use the reference ‘Girl Power’.
