Diploma helps star student in quest to teach
A PERFORMING arts student from Prestbury has gained a prestigious second diploma in teaching speech and drama.
Michaela Redhead, 17, of Heybridge Lane, has passed her Diploma of the London College of Music (DipLCM) with flying colours at 93 per cent.
This follows her Associate of the London College of Music (ALCM) diploma in speech and drama performance, and six Grade Eight awards in drama and music.
The teenager, whose ambition is to work in performance psychology, helping actors and musicians overcome stage fright, has attended Gillian Twigg’s Drama School at Teggsnose Farm, Macclesfield, since the age of five.
Having performed in drama festivals, she now wishes to help others perform to their full potential.
She helps Gillian teach young students, who the school owner says have ‘gained enormously from her experience and dedication.’
Currently sitting her A-levels at Withington Girl’s School a year early, she has offers to read psychology at Durham and St Andrews universities next year.
Before taking more exams in December, she will teach piano and drama at Camp America and receive her gold Duke of Edinburgh Award at St James Palace.
Gillian said: “Michaela has always been an outstanding and dedicated student, as were her older sister and brother. It has been an absolute joy to teach her for so many years.”
