A PRIMARY school is celebrating after getting the thumbs up from education inspectors.

Ofsted visited Bollinbrook CE Primary School on Abbey Road and rated it ‘good’.

It is an improvement on the last inspection which Ofsted found was down to the “commitment, vision and determination” of the school’s management.

Inspectors said Bollinbrook was “a happy school with a harmonious and caring atmosphere” where pupils ‘are prepared well for life in modern Britain’.

Teaching was found to be consistently good and teaching assistants hailed ‘a key part of each classroom team’.

Ofsted rated Reception lessons as good and the curriculum ‘exciting’, adding that ‘an extensive range of visits provides pupils with invaluable opportunities to add richness to their learning’.

In order for the school to reach the ‘outstanding’ rating Ofsted called on the school to challenge the most able pupils more, give pupils more opportunities to practise their writing skills, improve the feedback on work and improve pupils’ handwriting.
