Fundraisers get messy for hospice charity
A FUNDRAISER celebrated her birthday with bubbly like no other when she took part in a ‘Bubble Rush’ charity event.
Veronica McNeil, known as Ronnie, took part in the event in aid of East Cheshire Hospice.
It was held at Oulton Park Race Circuit and combined a 5k run with colourful ‘bubble walls’ which participants ran through along the route.
Ronnie, who is a customer adviser for Leek United building society on Chestergate, said: “It was my birthday that weekend, so what better way to celebrate than with some bubbly?
“I go to the gym regularly, so my fitness level wasn’t a problem – but my trainers ended up a very funny colour by the time I’d finished!”
Ronnie teamed up with supporter carer Siobhan Neill from the hospice, and they completed the 5k course in just over 30 minutes.
They are still collecting their sponsor money, but hope to have raised several hundred pounds between them.
Ronnie and her colleagues at Leek United’s Macclesfield branch have chosen East Cheshire Hospice as the focus of their charity fundraising this year.
The society has already made a donation towards Ronnie’s ‘Bubble Rush’ fundraising.
