Centenary collection for food bank charity

Macclesfield Express - - THE LAUGHING BADGER -

MEMBERS of a WI group dug deep for a food bank scheme as part of their centenary celebrations.

The women from Rainow WI set themselves the challenge of collecting 100 items for the Silklife Foodbank in Macclesfield.

It was part of efforts to mark the centenary of the WI movement around the country.

The members smashed their target and collected 155 items for the charity.

Cindy Brockington, of Rainow WI, said: “Our members rose admirably to the challenge and through their generosity we were able to donate 155 items.

“Two representatives of the foodbank charity came as guests to our meeting and after giving us information and statistics about their work they gratefully received our donation.

“Contributing to our local community at this time of WI celebration gave our members a feeling of pride.”
