Ve­hi­cles over­turn in three-car smash

TWO peo­ple were cut from their ve­hi­cles and taken to hos­pi­tal af­ter a three-car smash.

The man and woman be­came trapped when the their cars tipped onto their sides dur­ing the ac­ci­dent in Gawsworth.

The crash at the junction of Con­gle­ton Road and Church Lane in­volved three cars – a sil­ver Ford KA, blue Toy­ota Aven­sis and a black Ford Fu­sion.

The woman taken to hos­pi­tal was the 77-yearold driver of the Ford KA. She stayed in hos­pi­tal overnight.

A fire en­gine from Mac­cles­field and one from Con­gle­ton at­tended the scene at around 3.20pm on Thurs­day, June 11, as well as po­lice and the am­bu­lance ser­vice.

Crews re­leased the man and woman from their cars and handed them into the care of paramedics who took them to Mac­cles­field Hos­pi­tal. Road clo­sures were put in place, caus­ing de­lays in the area.

A spokesman for North West Am­bu­lance Ser­vice said: “Two pa­tients were taken to Mac­cles­field Hos­pi­tal. They were both walk­ing wounded and had no se­ri­ous in­juries.”
