Man breached or­der with Face­book post

A MAN has been fined af­ter breach­ing a re­strain­ing or­der by post­ing an abu­sive mes­sage online.

Matthew Mayes, 39, was made sub­ject to a re­strain­ing or­der at a hear­ing at Mac­cles­field Mag­is­trates court on Novem­ber 20, 2014.

The re­strain­ing or­der was im­posed af­ter Mayes was con­victed of ha­rass­ing a woman.

Mayes was con­victed af­ter con­tact­ing the woman re­peat­edly by text, phone calls and by mes­sages via phone mes­sag­ing ap­pli­ca­tion What­sApp.

The re­strain­ing or­der banned him from con­tact­ing the woman by any means.

But Mayes, of High Street, Mac­cles­field, found him­self back in court af­ter breach­ing the or­der.

He pleaded guilty at a hear­ing at Mac­cles­field Mag­is­trates court on Tues­day, June 9, to post­ing a mes­sage on Face­book on May 26 which was abu­sive in na­ture and which was done when he was pro­hib­ited to do so by a re­strain­ing or­der.

Mag­is­trates fined him £110 at the sen­tenc­ing hear­ing.

He was also or­dered to pay a £20 vic­tim sur­charge, pros­e­cu­tion costs of £85 and court costs of £150.
