Man breached order with Facebook post
A MAN has been fined after breaching a restraining order by posting an abusive message online.
Matthew Mayes, 39, was made subject to a restraining order at a hearing at Macclesfield Magistrates court on November 20, 2014.
The restraining order was imposed after Mayes was convicted of harassing a woman.
Mayes was convicted after contacting the woman repeatedly by text, phone calls and by messages via phone messaging application WhatsApp.
The restraining order banned him from contacting the woman by any means.
But Mayes, of High Street, Macclesfield, found himself back in court after breaching the order.
He pleaded guilty at a hearing at Macclesfield Magistrates court on Tuesday, June 9, to posting a message on Facebook on May 26 which was abusive in nature and which was done when he was prohibited to do so by a restraining order.
Magistrates fined him £110 at the sentencing hearing.
He was also ordered to pay a £20 victim surcharge, prosecution costs of £85 and court costs of £150.
