Thespians gear up for Noel Coward classic
AN amateur dramatics group is ending its season on a high with a performance of a classic Noel Coward comedy.
Macclesfield Amateur Dramatic Society (MADS) will perform ‘Easy Virtue’ at the Little Theatre, on Lord Street, from June 22 to 27.
The story is about young Englishman John Whittaker who marries Larita, a modern American woman, soon after they meet in the French Riviera.
While his father approves, John’s formidable mother couldn’t be more opposed to the union.
A hilarious battle between the reputation of the Victorian gentry and the Art Deco era of the roaring 20s ensues.
Director Kayleigh Smith said: “When people think of Noel Coward, they think of frothy tales of comically dysfunctional families who lounge about and smoke to a backing track of ‘Mad About the Boy.’ And this production features all those things, I wouldn’t want to disappoint now would I?”
Tickets are on sale now at ticketsource.co.uk/ madstheatre or by phone on 01625 611974.
