Hands-on fun for Little Stars
CHILDREN were taught some important safety lessons when a fire crew visited their play group.
The Little Stars Group, set up for parents of children with additional needs, welcomed firefighters from Delta Watch, based at Macclesfield Fire Station, as part of National Child Safety Week.
The crew brought along their fire engine to the event at Ash Grove Children’s Centre and talked to the children and parents about safety.
They visited as part of an annual campaign held to raise awareness of the risks of accidents and how they can be prevented.
This year’s focus is ‘tea-time terrors’, focusing on the accidents that can happen at the time of day when pressures are at their peak.
Anna Cunningham, who organised the event, said: “It was very successful event for the Little Stars Group, it was lovely.
“They all got a go in the fire engine and had a go on the fire hose. It was great.”
Little Stars runs from 1pm to 3pm on Fridays.
It is a parent-led group and offers fun activities for the children, ideas for parents, and support around what services and support are available.
