Care com­mu­nity and art group team up for Macmil­lan

PREST­BURY Beau­mont Care Com­mu­nity and Bolling­ton Art Group have raised al­most £300 for a can­cer char­ity.

Alex Romei, Prest­bury Beau­mont’s home ser­vices ad­vi­sor, handed over a cheque for £276 to Macmil­lan Can­cer Sup­port rep­re­sen­ta­tive Jane Hob­son.

The money was raised at the Cel­e­brat­ing Life art ex­hi­bi­tion, a joint ven­ture be­tween Barch­ester Healthcare’s home in Prest­bury and the Bolling­ton Art Group.

Alex said: “It has been a plea­sure to be able to raise funds for Macmil­lan Can­cer Sup­port with fan­tas­tic help from Bolling­ton Art Group, chaired by artist Sheila Cun­ning­ham, and all the peo­ple from neigh­bour­ing vil­lages that came to the event.

“We are look­ing for­ward to dou­bling the sum next year to help such an in­cred­i­ble char­ity that helps so many peo­ple ev­ery day, and hope more peo­ple will par­tic­i­pate by buy­ing more of the ex­cel­lent paint­ings of lo­cal artists.

“Macmil­lan Can­cer Sup­port helps with all the things that peo­ple af­fected by can­cer want Young Church groups they can join: Bub­bles, for un­der-fours, Squig­gles, for ages four to six, and Splash, for ages six to eight.

Other St Peter’s go­ings-on this month in­clude Ec­u­meni­cal Prayer Group at 9am on Wed­nes­day, June 3, 10, 17 and 24.

The adult choir will and need – they give much more than med­i­cal help.”

“It’s not only pa­tients who live with can­cer so they also help car­ers, fam­i­lies and com­mu­ni­ties, fund nurses and other spe­cial­ist health care pro­fes­sion­als and build can­cer care cen­tres.”

Prest­bury Beau­mont’s next ven­ture will be a tea party to mark Na­tional Care Home Open day on Fri­day, June 19.

Spon­sored by Su­per Jam, at­ten­dees will have chance to meet the team and look around the home. There will be a raf­fle to raise money for meet at the church on Fri­day, June 19, and Fri­day, June 26, at 7.45pm.

The church’s bell ringers will meet on Wed­nes­day, June 17 and Wed­nes­day, June 24 at 8pm.

There will be Com­mu­nity Wor­ship ses­sions at Prest­bury School on Wed­nes­day, June 17 and Wed­nes­day, June 24 at 9am. There will be cof­fee at the vicarage af­ter the ses­sions. ●● PREST­BURY Beau­mont Care Home is look­ing for peo­ple who would be in­ter­ested in East Cheshire Hos­pice and the Beau­mont Spa will be open, with Ju­lia Robert­son from Fit­ness for Ev­ery­one, a trained for­mer nurse and spe­cial­ist fit­ness in­struc­tor for el­derly peo­ple, giv­ing gym demon­stra­tions.

Guests and res­i­dents will then be served home-made cakes and scones pre­pared by head chef Nicky Barnard.

Bev­er­ley Davies, gen­eral man­ager, said she was ex­cited about wel­com­ing both new visi­tors and ex­ist­ing friends of the home on the day, which starts at 2pm. par­tic­i­pat­ing in free mo­saic work­shops given by Bolling­ton award-win­ning craftswoman De­bra Tracy.

The Beau­mont’s com­pany foun­da­tion will pro­vide a grant for this ac­tiv­ity to en­able peo­ple from the com­mu­nity to get in­volved.
