Care community and art group team up for Macmillan
PRESTBURY Beaumont Care Community and Bollington Art Group have raised almost £300 for a cancer charity.
Alex Romei, Prestbury Beaumont’s home services advisor, handed over a cheque for £276 to Macmillan Cancer Support representative Jane Hobson.
The money was raised at the Celebrating Life art exhibition, a joint venture between Barchester Healthcare’s home in Prestbury and the Bollington Art Group.
Alex said: “It has been a pleasure to be able to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support with fantastic help from Bollington Art Group, chaired by artist Sheila Cunningham, and all the people from neighbouring villages that came to the event.
“We are looking forward to doubling the sum next year to help such an incredible charity that helps so many people every day, and hope more people will participate by buying more of the excellent paintings of local artists.
“Macmillan Cancer Support helps with all the things that people affected by cancer want Young Church groups they can join: Bubbles, for under-fours, Squiggles, for ages four to six, and Splash, for ages six to eight.

Other St Peter’s goings-on this month include Ecumenical Prayer Group at 9am on Wednesday, June 3, 10, 17 and 24.

Prestbury Beaumont’s next venture will be a tea party to mark National Care Home Open day on Friday, June 19.
Sponsored by Super Jam, attendees will have chance to meet the team and look around the home. There will be a raffle to raise money for meet at the church on Friday, June 19, and Friday, June 26, at 7.45pm.
The church’s bell ringers will meet on Wednesday, June 17 and Wednesday, June 24 at 8pm.
There will be Community Worship sessions at Prestbury School on Wednesday, June 17 and Wednesday, June 24 at 9am. There will be coffee at the vicarage after the sessions. ●● PRESTBURY Beaumont Care Home is looking for people who would be interested in East Cheshire Hospice and the Beaumont Spa will be open, with Julia Robertson from Fitness for Everyone, a trained former nurse and specialist fitness instructor for elderly people, giving gym demonstrations.
Guests and residents will then be served home-made cakes and scones prepared by head chef Nicky Barnard.
Beverley Davies, general manager, said she was excited about welcoming both new visitors and existing friends of the home on the day, which starts at 2pm. participating in free mosaic workshops given by Bollington award-winning craftswoman Debra Tracy.
The Beaumont’s company foundation will provide a grant for this activity to enable people from the community to get involved.
