AFTER a successful season in League One the East Cheshire Youth League, Tytherington Juniors under 11s football team finished off their season in style by winning the prestigious Failsworth Villa Tournament.

The tournament involves 200 of the best youth football teams from all over the North West, in various age groups.

Tytherington started the tournament strongly, and remained unbeaten in the five qualifying group stages.

With some excellent teamwork and a well organised defence, progression to the semi finals was achieved with only one goal being conceded.

After a nervous start Tytherington went on to dominate the semi-final, with some great teamwork and rock solid defence seeing them through.

They progressed to the final with a 1-0 victory against Monton Vipers, following an wonderful goal from Aiden Butterworth.

In the final Tytherington faced Appleton Boys, a strong attacking side from Warrington.

It was a hard fought game in which both sides played fast attacking football, but neither side managed to score.

In the end the contest had to be decided on a penalty shoot out, which Tytherington won 3-2.
