Smashing time at festival and fell race
MORE than 500 people people turned out for the 61st Bosley Rose Queen Fete and Fell Race.
Fete-goers enjoyed a host of fun activities including plate smashing, a coconut shy, a bouncy castle and even a rodeo bull.
There was also facepainting and tattoo opportunities, balloon modelling, a Beat The Goalie game and singing Frozen characters played by entertainers.
The procession was led by a piper band, followed by this year’s Rose Queen, Francesca Bettany, and Rose King, Sam Brunt.
Junior children then staged a country dancing display ahead of the traditional fell races.
The senior race winner was Jack Ross from the Staff Moorlands AC Team with a time of 31 minutes and 17 seconds with Olivia Walwyn from the Macc and District AC team scooping the first lady prize with a time of 33 minutes and 44 seconds.
The junior race was won by 12-year-old Jack Farrall from the Boalloy team in 17 minutes and 22 seconds.
Emma Carter, one of the organisers, said: “We were really pleased with the turnout despite the weather.
