Smash­ing time at fes­ti­val and fell race

MORE than 500 peo­ple peo­ple turned out for the 61st Bosley Rose Queen Fete and Fell Race.

Fete-go­ers en­joyed a host of fun ac­tiv­i­ties in­clud­ing plate smash­ing, a co­conut shy, a bouncy castle and even a rodeo bull.

There was also face­paint­ing and tat­too op­por­tu­ni­ties, bal­loon mod­el­ling, a Beat The Goalie game and singing Frozen char­ac­ters played by en­ter­tain­ers.

The pro­ces­sion was led by a piper band, fol­lowed by this year’s Rose Queen, Francesca Bet­tany, and Rose King, Sam Brunt.

Ju­nior chil­dren then staged a coun­try danc­ing dis­play ahead of the tra­di­tional fell races.

The se­nior race win­ner was Jack Ross from the Staff Moor­lands AC Team with a time of 31 min­utes and 17 sec­onds with Olivia Wal­wyn from the Macc and Dis­trict AC team scoop­ing the first lady prize with a time of 33 min­utes and 44 sec­onds.

The ju­nior race was won by 12-year-old Jack Far­rall from the Boal­loy team in 17 min­utes and 22 sec­onds.

Emma Carter, one of the or­gan­is­ers, said: “We were re­ally pleased with the turnout de­spite the weather.
