Restaurant bags top Trip Advisor spot

Macclesfield Express - - MOTORING -

A PRESTBURY restaurant is celebrating after being named number one out of 11 restaurants in the village on Trip Advisor and gaining a certificate of excellence for the second year running.

The Chocolate Box, in the centre of the village, was opened by sisters Angela O’Leary, 48, and Kate Nuttall, 50, four years ago when the Persia restaurant closed down.

Specialising in homecooked food ranging from English breakfasts and quiches to homemade cakes, Angela said it attracts ‘a huge array of people’, with several famous faces including Match Of The Day pundit and former Welsh international Robbie Savage and comedian Paddy McGuiness popping in.

Angela told the Express: “We were ecstatic when we found out we were number one.

“I think that our success is down to the fact that everything is homemade.

“We don’t buy anything wholesale and only use the best ingredients.”

A trained chef, Angela does all the cooking while Kate is responsible for front of house.

She said: “Opening a restaurant is just something I’ve always wanted to do so I just drafted Kate in with me.

“I don’t find cooking stressful at all - I love it, especially making quiches.”

She added: “We had a hundredth birthday afternoon tea recently for a local lady.

“They hired the whole cafe and really enjoyed themselves - it was lovely.”

She added: “We will just stick with what we are doing to try to keep our first place.

“We have fantastic staff too, which helps.”
