A FLOWER expert paid a visit to Bollington and District Horticultural Society to talk about his prize-winning dahlias.

Stuart Clensy from Skelmersdale, who has won prizes at major flower shows and is a dahlia judge, attended the group’s meeting to talk to members, show slides of his entries and displays of his dahlias.

Pauline Pedlar, from the group, said: “Stuart is very critical of his blooms and every petal must be perfect. He has developed many new varieties himself.

“He grows his own plants by digging up the previous year’s tubers and taking cuttings.

“Much hard work, skill and experience is needed to turn these into prize-winning dahlias.”

There are no more meetings until after the Autumn Show at Bollington Civic Hall on Saturday, September 5.
