BLOOD DONORS

A HEALTH ser­vice is ap­peal­ing for more blood donors to help save lives.

NHS Blood and Trans­plant has re­vealed that only 24 per 1,000 peo­ple in Cheshire are ac­tive donors.

It also claimed the num­bers of new vol­un­teers is drop­ping.

DRIVE COURSE

CHESHIRE Fire Ser­vice has marked the 15th an­niver­sary of its road safety course.

The ‘Think Drive Sur­vive’ course was de­signed by for­mer Cheshire Po­lice of­fi­cer Martin Clarke to help re­duce the num­ber of se­ri­ous and fa­tal col­li­sions in Cheshire in­volv­ing young peo­ple.

Each course fea­tures first­hand on-scene ac­counts of road traf­fic col­li­sions from emer­gency ser­vices’ of­fi­cers, and tes­ti­mony from a mum whose son was killed by a drunk driver.
