Town burst into bloom for Well Dressing festival
BOLLINGTON bloomed once again for this year’s Well Dressing Festival.
The annual custom sees a team of volunteer well dressers decorate clay boards with petals and foliage to create beautiful dressings which are placed around the town’s water features.
This year’s theme is ‘Birthdays and Anniversaries’ and included designs based on VE Day, the anniversary of the Magna Carta and even Elvis’s birthday.
The ceremony was opened by town mayor Councillor Angela Williams, with performances from children from St Gregory’s Primary School.
Chris Gosling, who leads the Bollington Well Dressing group, said: “It was wonderful – the sun shone on the whole event.
“We were very pleased with the designs and how they worked, and the openings was wonderful.
“The school children chose to remember Elvis as it was 80 years ago when he was born.
“It was fantastic because they entertained us with songs and jived to the songs.”
She added: “The whole committee worked extremely hard with a super designer, they look fantastic.”
The boards will remain in place until Sunday, July 12.
