●● PRESTBURY Brownies will be getting a new Brown Owl.

Anne Carsons has been the Brown Owl for the 2nd and 3rd Prestbury packs for 25 years but gave up her leadership role last month when she turned 65.

Unable to find a replacement despite appeals to the community, Anne has remained with the 2nd pack as Assistant Leader until another Brown Owl could take over.

Now a chance meeting has found a replacement – which is a relief for Anne as her Young Leaders are leaving to go to university and her Snowy Owl, Sara Bolton, is moving up to Guides with her daughter.

Anne said: “I bumped into a Brown Owl at church parade. Ellen Fitzgerald is returning to Prestbury from Lancaster University, where she runs a Brownie pack, next summer and has agreed to take over Prestbury Brownies.

“I had to pinch myself. We only met by pure chance and I have agreed to stay on until next summer and then hand the reins over to her. What a result!” ●● PRESTBURY CE Primary School is holding an Ice Cream Friday on July 17. Details will follow closer to the time.

The school would also like to remind parents of the Nearly New Uniforms they have for sale. Items cost just £2 each and will be displayed in afternoons on the drive when feasible.

Those looking for something in particular should email the school at prestburypta@gmail. com or ask a member of staff in the playground.

Donations of uniform items, especially those from Year 6 children who are moving on, can be placed in the little blue tub just inside the front door.

The school is also looking for a secretary to take over from Kate Collins next year. Contact the school on 01625 383033.
