KERRIDGE welcomed Wistaston to Clark Lane on Saturday where the hosts won the toss and elected to bat in the sunshine.

The opening pair of Harbige and Regan settled into the bowling and shared a stand of 71 for the first wicket before Regan holed out after making a classy 58 which included 12 boundaries.

Wistaston bowlers got back into the game through the spin of Galanis (4/51) who took the scalps of N Banks (1) J Capper (16) and Kerridge skipper Wild (19) to reduce Kerridge to 105/5.

With spin now at both ends Sergeant (4/51) backed up well having finally removed Harbige for 23 .

A late flurry of runs from Ryder (13*) saw Kerridge to eight batting points before being all out for 161 in 38 overs

Wistastons’ reply stuttered initially when A Banks (2/21) bowled Botham for 1 on the second ball and had Collins caught behind well by Wild for 4 to leave them 6/2.

However an 85 run partnership between Galanis and Barnes broke the back of the run chase before Barnes was caught in slip off A Grimes (1/44) for a solid 52.

Several silly fielding errors cost Kerridge in the end and although Wild claimed another wicket when running out Briddon for 12, Wistaston eased to their target with Galanis wrapping up a good all round performance finishing unbeaten on 63 and sealing a 25 point six-wicket victory.

Kerridge took 10 points in the end but will be surely thinking of what could have been had they made the most of their chances.
