Student Joe’s close shave is tribute to his dad’s pal
A KIND-HEARTED teenager has shaved his hair off for charity.
Joe Henshaw, 14, took the plunge in memory of his dad Stephen’s friend Tony Priest who died earlier this year.
The Fallibroome Academy pupil wanted to raise some money for Macmillan Cancer Care and decided to join its current Brave the Shave campaign which urges people to shave off their hair.
He collected sponsorship from school friends, teachers, family and patrons of the Weaver’s pub where Stephen and Tony would often meet.
Daring Joe, of Penrith Avenue, Macclesfield, has now collected almost £250 for the charity.
His proud mum Gillian said: “Macmillan was one of the chosen charities of Tony, who was a friend of Stephen’s for over 25 years, and so Joe thought it was a fitting tribute.
“Tony went into the Weavers with his family so he was well known and that’s where Joe saw him mostly when we were out as a family.
“Raising £249 is incredible, as his target was just £50. We are very proud of him for doing Brave the Shave in memory of Tony.”
